Zurück in La Ceiba folgte am nächsten Tag bereits ein nächstes Highlight meiner Honduras Zeit. River Rafting stand auf dem Programm. Zusammen mit einem Holländer welchen ich in Utila kennenlernte buchten ich eine Klasse 2 & 3 Weisswasser Rafting Tour. Kostenpunkt: 45 Dollar inkl. Transport & Mittagessen.
Die Hinfahrt hoch in den Nationalpark Pico Bonito war wie der Namen schon sagt schön. Die holprige Strasse führte entlang des Flusses und unterwegs gabs Wasserfälle und Jungle zu bestaunen. Nach einer knappen Stunde trafen wir im Camp ein und rüsteten uns aus für den Ritt auf den Stromschnellen.
Es folgte eine kurze Einführung, Sicherheitshinweise sowie die Abfolge von Befehlen welche wir dann auch im Wasser übten. Es war Teamwork gefragt. Dann hiess es let’s go! Knapp 2h kämpften wir gegen Strömung, Felsen und kleine Wasserfälle und es machte riesigen Spass. Nass wurden alle mehr als genug und das Wasser hatte eine erfrischende Temperatur.
Zum Schluss folgte eine Abfolge vom schnellen Wellen welche uns nochmals richtig durcheinander wirbelten. Das wohlverdiente Mittagessen schmeckt danach köstlich und gut gelaunt fuhren wir am Nachmittag zurück nach La Ceiba.
Back in La Ceiba, the next day was followed by another highlight of my time in Honduras. River rafting was on the program. Together with a ditch guy whom I met in Utila we booked a class 2 & 3 Rafting Tour. Cost: $ 45 including transport & lunch.
The way up in the National Park Pico Bonito was as the name suggests beautiful. The bumpy road led along the river and on the way we could spot waterfalls and Jungle life. After less than an hour we arrived at the camp and prepared ourselves for the ride on the rapids.
It was followed by a brief introduction, safety instructions and the sequence of commands which we then practiced in the water. Teamwork was needed. Then it was called let’s go! Almost 2 hours we fought against current, rocks and small waterfalls and it was great fun. Wet were all more than enough and the water had a refreshing temperature.
Finally, a sequence followed by the fast waves which made us really confused. The well-deserved lunch then tastes delicious and in a good mood we drove back to La Ceiba in the afternoon.
