Antigua, Guatemala

With a shuttle we went in the afternoon around 02:30pm to direction Antigua. A Spanish cononial town surrounded by three volcanoes. one of them, the Fuego is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America and has the city several times covered in ash. The heart of the city has only paving stones streets and is only about 1km2 big. The town is nice and has much to offer. It can be found any type of food, shops and bars. Unfortunately, it is also very American. So it has even McDonalds, Burger King, Domino’s, Wendy’s and Subway. Also the prices also American. An average of 50% more expensive to eat as in San Pedro. But here can be found delicious and cheap alternatives too. I remained first 4 nights in Antigua before I did a week trip to Rabinal and to Semuc Champey. After I returned again for 4 nights back to Antigua. I stayed in the Three Monkeys Hostel, which I put into the top 5 hostels on this travel. Very cool vibe, great staff, super kitchen and many exciting encounters.
