Der Bus von San Jose brachte mich in den kleinen Strandort Cahuita. Direkt bei der Ankunft war das karibische Flair direkt zu spüren. Ich blieb drei Nächte und genoss die schönen Strände und im nahegelegenen Nationalpark. Bei einer Wanderung durch den Park bekam ich auch einige der einheimischen Tiere zu Gesicht. Affen, Faultiere, Pagageien und Nasenbären sind in Costa Rica so gut wie überall anzuteffen.
Nach sonnigen 3 Tagen und mehren Portionen Coconut-Rice fuhr ich weiter in den knapp 30min entfernten Ort Puerto Viejo (übersetzt alter Hafen).
Etwas grösser und deutlich touristischer hat dieser Ort natürlich auch mehr zu bieten. Es gab viele Bar, Restaurants und weitere tolle Strände in der Nähe. Ebefalls war es möglich mit einem Fahrrad der Küste entlang ins knapp 15km entfernte Örtchen Manzanillo zu cruisen. Dies lies ich mir natürlich nicht entgehen.
Puerto Rico verbreitet definitiv Ferienstimmung und dies ist wohl einer der Gründe warum ich eine ganze Woche blieb. Auch das Hostel war mit ein Grund meines längeren Aufenthalts. Die Küche liess nicht zu wünschen übrig und ermöglichte so das ein oder andere gute Essen ohne grossen Aufwand.
Nach 7 Nächten war es dann aber an der Zeit ein neues Land zu betreten. Panama next!
The bus from San Jose took me to the small beach town Cahuita. Right on arrival the Caribbean flair was directly felt. I stayed three nights and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and the nearby National Park. During a hike through the park, I also saw some of the native animals. Monkeys, sloths, pagagias and coatis can be found in Costa Rica as well as anywhere.
After sunny 3 days and several servings of Coconut-Rice I drove on to the almost 30 minutes away Puerto Viejo (translated port).
Of course, this place has a lot more to offer and a lot more touristy. There were many bars, restaurants and other great beaches nearby. Ebefalls it was possible with a bike along the coast to scarcely 15km away village Manzanillo to cruise. Of course, I did not miss that.
Puerto Rico definitely spreads holiday mood and this is probably one of the reasons why I stayed for a whole week. The hostel was also a reason for my extended stay. The kitchen left nothing to be desired and made possible one or the other good food without much effort.
After 7 nights it was time to enter a new country. Panama next!
