Mit einem Taxi Collectivo gings raus aufs Land Richtung Norden. Gibara ist das Ziel von heute. Das Taxi fährt uns bis Holguin. Von dort gings dann mit einem Camion weiter. Gibara befindet sich an der Küste nördlich von Holguin. Ein kleines Städtchen, herzlich und überhaupt nicht touristisch. Es hat nur ein Hotel und einige Casas. Hier gelandet bin ich aufgrund von Manon, meine französische Bekanntschaft aus Santiago de Cuba. Ein Casa war dann auch schnell gefunden. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und es gab auch gleich Tipps was es so zu endecken gibt hier. Auf der Strasse trafen wir dann auf diverse ausserordentlich nette Cubaner welche uns weiter Tipps gaben. Man merkt hier das man nicht nur als Tourist mit Geld betrachtet wird, so wie dies oft der Fall im restlichen Kuba.
Es folgte ein feines Abensessen im Restaurant und eine erholsame Nacht. Auch den nächsten Tag verbrachten wir in Gibara bis es dann um ca. 1530 Uhr mit dem Bus zurück nach Holguin ging. Da agekommen gings zur Viazul Station, geplant war ein Nachtbus ins 8 Stunden entfernte Santa Clara. Dieser war dann aber ausgebucht. Eine Taxi-Alternative für günstige 20 CUC war schnell gefunden. Es ging dann auch gleich los.
Ca. um 2200 Uhr macht sich dann ein komisches Geräusch auf der Vorderachse unseres alten Peugeot 306 bemerkbar. Wir mussten anhalten. Die Cubaner sind ja bekannt für ihre Reparaturküste. Das Problem war schnell gefunden, die Bremszange hatte sich gelöst. Nach einer Stunde inkl. Abendessen gings dann weiter. Um halb eins trafen wir dann am Busbahnhof von Santa Clara ein. Wo wir danm.auch die Nacht verbrachten, nicht ganz so bequem jedoch kostenlos.
Für Manon gings am nächsten Tag weiter nach Matanzas. Und ich besuchte das Cayo Santa Maria nördlich von Santa Clara. Die Nacht verbrachte ich in Remedios und am nächsten Morgen gings zurück nach Habana. Dort übernachtete ich im Hostel Paradise. Noch 4 Nächte und mein Kuba Abenteuer ist zu Ende und es geht weiter nach Mexico.
We took a taxi collectivo to Gibara, wich is a small coast town north of Holguin. We found a nice casa when we arrived and straight started to walk around. The people here are really nice and there almost no tourists. After a nice sunset we enjoyed a great dinner and went to bed early. The next day we too the bus back to Holguin around 3 pm. When we got there we wanted to get the Viazul nightbus to Santa Clara. But that one was fully booked. So we got a taxi for 20 CUC each. It was a 7 hours ride, including a repair stop on the way. Our driver had to fix a brake in the middle of nowhere. We arrived at the bus terminal in Santa Clara around 1 am and there we also spent the rest of the night. Not as comfy but free.
The next morning Manon took a taxi to Matanzas and I went to the beach at Cayo Santa Maria and spend my next night in Remedios. From there I took the bus back to Santa Clara and got a taxi to Habana. Four more nights in Habana and then it’s time for Mexico!
